Sample Day and Excursions

7-8am  Enjoy an early walk or a quiet moment in the first light of day.

8-9  Breakfast: Follow the scent of freshly brewed coffee and homemade baked goods to a healthy breakfast buffet.

9:30 – 12:30  Writing workshop: Each day will address a specific aspect of the craft.

12:30 – 1:30  Lunch: Typically, lunch will be a lighter meal featuring soups and salads.

2:00 – 6:30pm  Depending on the day: free time, excursions, private consultations, additional workshop.

6:30  Aperitivo

7:00  Dinner: Enjoy the typical cuisine of Tuscany and other regions.

After dinner, enjoy a Limoncello on the terrace or relax in the living room with your new friends. If the nightlife in a nearby town calls, a casual outing can be arranged.

The above schedule is a sample of what a typical day at the villa might look like. With the exception of the morning writing sessions, there is some flexibility in the schedule to accommodate the needs of the group. I am as passionate about the details that go into making this an experience to remember, and personally oversee every aspect of the retreat.

Excursions will include at least two of the following:

Front of the town hall in Siena Italy

Siena

Siena's stunning main square, the Campo, has a gently tilted floor fanning into a stage set for the famous horse race called the Palio. This medieval town is the ultimate hill town, with red-brick lanes and an unrivaled spirit that makes it a joy to visit.

Stone towers of San Gimignano with piazza in the foreground

San Gimignano

The region's glamour girl, with 14 surviving medieval towers, San Gimignano is a shopping haven with fine crafts and beautiful shops. No visit is complete without climbing one of the towers and wandering the charming side streets.

Red tile roof tops of Volterra, Italy

Volterra

This beautifully preserved jewel, encircled by impressive walls and topped with a grand fortress, is just far enough off the beaten path to keep it feeling genuine. Its long Etruscan history makes for unusually interesting sightseeing for a small town.

This tiny medieval walled town, located on a natural hillock, is a gem not to be missed.
